My favourite fantasy author is Neil Gaiman (if he can truly be classified as fantasy, I'm not sure). Next after that is Tolkein.

FTW, I JUST LOVE the Captain Nemo trilogy ( with mysterious islands and stuff...) mostly because of the childhood...I have read most of his books, and I loved them when i was little.

Hmm..There are so many great authors. George R R Martin, Terry Goodkind.. And after getting some meat on my bones with Tolkien, he's climbing fast on my list!
