Firefly (2002)
My all time favourite 'Space Western' show, closely followed by the anime Cowboy Bebop. To this day I don't love any other sci-fi TV show as much as Firefly. I believe 'Objects in Space' to be one of the best single episodes of any TV show I have ever watched.

Re: Firefly (2002)
I did and I was sooo pissed that it was canceled... that and caprica both running ony one season, while SyFy is full of crap!
Re: Firefly (2002)
Firefly was awesome! My favourite episode was "heart of Gold". I don't think it was ever aired but it was out on the DVD release.
Re: Firefly (2002)
at least they concluded it with "serenity"... nobody ever bothered to conclude Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe... buttheads!
Re: Firefly (2002)
They only made Serenity because all the fans complained so much. Stargate fans must not have been so vocal about it. Serenity was made with the power of the people!

Haha yep. I am an out and proud nerd. And there's an actual group in my city called the New Melbourne Browncoats who do Serenity-Firefly related things to raise money for charity. I joined last year and got official dogtags.

Re: Firefly (2002)
Firefly is my second favourite sci fi series ever. It is a perfectly polished gem of a show, and while it was a shame that it got canned so soon, at least it'll never outstay its welcome like so many great shows before it did.
Plus it means I can watch it again and again without having to take a year out of my life to do so. Sometimes fewer episodes of something really is better.

I love both Firefly and Cowboy Bebop. You should start a Bebop thread in Anime !
I recently read how Star Trek was almost taken off the aire ages ago but the fans begged for it not to be. I wish people would have been more active about that when FIrefly was taken off of the air. That was such a great show.

Re: Firefly (2002)
There was another Joss Whedon sci fi TV series called "Dollhouse" which was also awesome. (Though not quite as awesome as Firefly admittedly). It was based on the idea that these people who had made a mess of their lives could sign on for so many years with the program. They underwent a "mind-wipe" process to make them a "doll" - a clean slate ready to be implanted with a personality. They designed all kinds of personalities for their "dolls" and implanted them with those and all kinds of knowledge: fighting skills, job-based knowledge etc. Then they'd hire them out on a short-term contract. It ran for 2 seasons I think and was a pretty cool show actually. The actress who plays "Echo" was amazing! She had to play a different character in every show, sometimes more than one in a show and she did a great job at it.
