The Alien Anthology Empty The Alien Anthology

Alien has to be one of my favourite sci-fi movies of all time. I mean, Sigourney Weaver is enough to make any movie awesome, but Ian Holm is also in it, which makes it even better. Not to mention that it's absolutely terrifying and the special effects were way ahead of their time. The movies, unfortunately, got worse as they went on, leaving us with a bad taste in our mouths by the fourth one. Despite all that, I still liked 1-4 and it saddens me whenever someone hasn't seen them (even though my first time watching them was about 4 years ago :p).

The first is an absolute classic. What a fantastic little film that was. I love the slow, tense build up to the final half hour or so of terror.

The second was very well made and still stands up today, but it's not a patch on the original. Still, seeing Ripley kick bottom at the end is just amazing.

The third, while not quite as terrific as the first two, was and still is a vastly underrated film. I think the fact that it was so downbeat and nihilistic may have put a lot of folks off it.

The fourth has some wonderful qualities to it, but overall I just couldn't truly enjoy it. It felt a little too comedic at times, and for that reason didn't fit tonally with the first three.

Agreed on all accounts.

THe fourth is hilarious, but it's got the Weave in it, so it's still good Wink. The last bit with the baby alien thing getting sucked out into space is too much.

I have to agree with you on that point. Still, it has Winona Ryder in it, and I had a huge crush on her back in the day. So, it's not all bad! Embarassed

I didn't like to watch them but then I can't stand suspense movies, especially anything even remotely horrific. The aliens were all drippy and gooey Razz and the whole spider-thingy-on-your-head-that-shoves-an-embryonic-alien-in-your-belly-that-will-eventually-rip-its-way-out-of-you kinda put me off. I have to agree that Sigourney Weaver was awesome in them though. It must have been hard to be awesome among all that alien yuck.

Yes! She was also cool in Cabin in the Woods. Weird cameo appearance lol. And I loved that she was the voice of the ship in Wall-E. Also, she was in Baby Mamma and that blew my mind lol

Wasn't she also the voice of the ship's computer in an episode of Futurama?
